This paper explores the combination of two types of features to evolve hybrid features. The first hybrid features arise on the application of the fuzzification function on the wavelet decomposed images and the second hybrid features are the result of applying the fuzzification function on the convolved face images with the Gabor filter bank. The Gabor fuzzy features show a better performance in terms of ROC whereas the wavelet fuzzy features have an edge over the Gabor fuzzy features in terms of identification accuracy as given by support vector machines (SVM). The algorithm was tested on ORL (Olivetti Research Laboratory) database that has slight orientations in face images.
